High fructose corn syrup (HFCS) is a heavily processed sweetener linked to increased risk of obesity, metabolic syndrome, and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. It is not recommended for children.

Sodium benzoate is a chemical preservative. When combined with vitamin C (ascorbic acid), it can form benzene — a known carcinogen. It is also linked to hyperactivity in children, leading the UK to recommend removing it from children's foods.
